CLARKSDALE — A 24-year-old Clarksdale man has been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a Honduran construction worker which occurred at a Clarksdale motel.

Police say Carlos Fox has been charged in the death of Carlos Meza, 40, and is being held in the Coahoma County Jail on $1 million bond.

Meza, who was originally from Honduras but had been living in Miami, Fla. on a work visa since 2005, was staying in Clarksdale while working on a roofing project at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.

Authorities say Meza was killed from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen last Wednesday morning as he and three other co-workers were being robbed in their motel room. ~snipped~
